David Farquharson 1840-1907

David Farquharson was a landscape painter from Perthshire. He worked as a painter-decorator establishing a firm with his brother in his hometown. It was only after 1868 when his wife died and the firm dissolved that he started painting small scale landscapes for a living.

The Scottish countryside and pastoral scenes of field workers were his chosen subject. He lived and worked in Edinburgh and later in London, finally settling in West Cornwall.
