Sir William Quiller Orchardson RA 1832-1910
Born in Edinburgh, William Quiller Orchardson studied at the Trustees Academy, after which he worked in Edinburgh for fifteen years. Following this, he relocated to London where he became a full member of the Royal Academy in 1877 and was knighted in 1907.
His works, quiet and calmly composed, primarily revolve around domestic, literary or historical subjects.
