John Houston OBE RSA 1930-2008
John Houston was a land- and sea-scape painter, married to the artist Elizabeth Blackadder. He was born in Fife and raised on the east coast of Scotland. Houston studied at Edinburgh College of Art and, after travels in Italy, returned to teach there until his retirement in 1989. Houston's work is executed in an atmospheric, expressionistic style, in rich, strong colours.
