Kate Moss, Amy Winehouse and Victoria Beckham were the young female celebrities who captured Laing’s imagination in the latter stage of his career. He resurrected his ‘Pop’ style to portray them - as he had done his earlier starlets - as removed from ‘our’ reality, seen through the media lens. Kate Moss has been abstracted almost to the point of being unrecognizable. The lower half of her bikini takes the shape of a cocktail glass, alluding to her hedonistic lifestyle.
